How does Aury work?

After signing up in the web app you complete 8 structured sessions (~15 minutes each) at your own pace. The content is built on evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness — personalised to your individual stress profile.

Is Aury free?

During the current trial phase, yes — "Digital Stress Management with Aury" is free for early users. Once ZPP certification is complete, the course will be reimbursable through statutory health insurers (Germany).

Is my data safe?

Yes. Aury is ISO 27001 certified, stores all course data on EU servers, and is fully GDPR compliant. Details in our privacy policy.

Does Aury replace therapy?

No. Aury offers psychoeducational support based on evidence-based methods. Aury is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat mental illness. For acute symptoms or clinical concerns, please reach out to a licensed psychotherapist.

Adults (18+) interested in stress management, resilience and mental well-being. Aury is currently primarily developed for the German market and German-speaking users; the website itself is fully bilingual.

Is Aury available in German and English?

The website is fully bilingual. The course content itself is currently available in German; English course support is on our roadmap.

Will the course be reimbursed by my health insurer?Available after ZPP certification

The course is currently undergoing certification review by the Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention (ZPP). Once certification is complete, you will be able to submit your certificate of participation together with proof of payment to your statutory health insurer for reimbursement.

Are more courses planned?

Yes. We are actively developing courses on sleep, relationships, parenting and self-compassion. If you sign up for the stress management course today, we will notify you in the web app as soon as new courses become available.

2. Technical questions
How do I reset my password?

On the login page, use the "Forgot password" function. You will receive a link to your registered email address and can set a new password. If you no longer have access to your email address, write to support@aury.co.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

"Digital Stress Management with Aury" is a web application (web app) and runs in a current web browser. We support Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari (current and previous major versions). The web app is optimised for smartphones, tablets and desktop computers running Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or later, iOS 14 or later, and Android 10 or later.

What technical requirements do I need?

For reliable use you need a stable internet connection (recommended: at least 1 Mbit/s). The web app requires a continuous online connection (no offline mode). For optimal use, JavaScript should be enabled and cookies allowed for the domain. A minimum screen resolution of 320 × 568 pixels is required.

What can I do if the page does not load or shows an error?

First check your internet connection. Update your browser or app if needed. Clear the browser cache and restart the application. If the problem persists, contact support@aury.co.

What data is collected and how is it protected?

Aury only processes the data needed to deliver the programme. The GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) apply. Details are in the privacy policy at https://aury.co/privacy.

Is Aury accessible?

Aury is designed to be as accessible as possible. The web app is oriented towards WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) and the relevant principles of EN ISO 9241 on user-centred design.

You can find our accessibility statement at aury.co/accessibility. There we provide information on the current state of accessibility, known limitations and planned improvements.

Contact for accessibility feedback: support@aury.co.

3. Registration & access
How do I register?

To use the web app you need a personal account. You register with an email address and a password (at least 8 characters, including upper and lower case letters, digits and special characters) and agree to the terms of service and privacy policy.

How is the programme unlocked?

Booking is via payment or a voucher code from your health insurer. Before activation, you must confirm — among other things — that you are over 18, that you do not have a severe mental illness requiring treatment, and that you have read and accepted the contraindications. Activation is not technically possible without this active confirmation.

4. Course-related questions
How do I start a new session?

On the home screen you see how many sessions you have. Tap "Start session" to begin a session.

How can I see where I am in the training?

On the home screen, a status indicator shows how many of the 8 sessions you have already completed.

Can I take breaks without losing my progress?

Yes. You can leave a session at any time; your progress so far is saved automatically. For maximum benefit and effectiveness, we recommend completing each session — but if you have to stop early, Aury will pick up where you left off in the next session.

How many sessions must I complete to finish the programme?

You need to complete at least six of eight sessions within six weeks of starting the programme. Eight sessions are available in total. Micro-impulses do not count as sessions.

How do I receive my certificate of participation?

Once you reach the required engagement level (at least 6 of 8 sessions within 6 weeks), your participation is automatically reviewed and the certificate of participation is generated. You will receive it by email; if available, it can also be viewed in the web app under "Profile / Certificate of Participation".

6. Content questions
What is the health benefit for me?

Note on proof of effectiveness: The health benefit of this digital prevention offer is currently being evaluated in a scientific study with several measurement points. The formal proof of effectiveness (evidence of health benefit) required by the Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention (ZPP) is not yet finalised.

The "Digital Stress Management with Aury" programme aims to help participants better understand their individual experience of stress and learn effective strategies for managing it. Through regular participation, the following competencies, among others, can be strengthened: noticing and contextualising stressful thoughts and stress reactions more consciously; identifying personal stressors and reflecting on how to handle them; deliberately building recovery and rest into everyday life; and strengthening self-efficacy when dealing with stressful situations.

The content is based on recognised approaches to multimodal stress and resource management. The intended health benefit is to contribute, in the long term, to a more mindful relationship with stress and to strengthening psychological well-being. Whether and to what extent these effects are achieved is the subject of ongoing scientific evaluation.

No external health information is delivered within the course itself. In particular situations (e.g. acute distress), references to further support services may be provided. These are for orientation, are voluntary, and are not part of the prevention programme.

What can I do if I feel overwhelmed or stressed?

Start with a short relaxation exercise, such as the "Leaves on a Stream" visualisation. Breathe in and out deeply and slowly and direct your attention to something in the here and now. What sounds do you hear? How does the ground feel under your feet? What can you smell? Simply notice the moment, without judgement. Use your course "Digital Stress Management with Aury" to discover how you can reduce stress and find more recovery in everyday life. For persistent symptoms, please consult a medical or psychotherapeutic professional. Aury does not replace therapy.

How do I reflect on my progress?

At the start of each session, Aury picks up on the past few days and on the content of the previous session. After each session, Aury asks reflection questions to help you document your experience. This is intended to help you integrate what you have learned into everyday life and to keep practising. The home screen also shows how many sessions you have completed.

How do I integrate the exercises into my daily life?

Set small, achievable micro-goals (e.g. two minutes of breathing exercise per day). Use the reminder function and the micro-impulses to be regularly prompted to do the exercises (you need to allow this once during onboarding). Try to apply the strategies you learn in each session bit by bit in everyday life and integrate them into existing habits. Stick with it, even when it is hard. And be patient with yourself — real change takes time.

What do I do if I do not understand a session or have trouble with the exercises?

Read the session again slowly and use the summarised learning points. Ask Aury directly. Some questions are answered in the "Technical questions" or "Course-related questions" sections of this manual. If anything remains unclear, write an email to support@aury.co.

7. Scientific study
Aury is being studied in a scientific evaluation. What is the goal of the study?

The study investigates the extent to which the "Digital Stress Management with Aury" programme contributes to improvements in health-relevant, preventively effective parameters.

We expect the following positive effects:

– General experience of stress is reduced. – Life satisfaction is increased. – Well-being is increased. – Positive thinking is increased. – Self-efficacy is increased. – Active coping behaviour is increased.

You can find more information about the study in the study register.

How can I take part in the study?

To take part in the study, you can contact us by email at support@aury.co.

How can I end my participation in the study?

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You can end your participation at any time and without giving reasons, without any disadvantages.

If you no longer want to receive reminder emails about the study, please delete your user account or contact us at support@aury.co.

What happens if I do not complete the study?

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You can end your participation at any time and without giving reasons, without any disadvantages.

Who answers questions about the study?

If you have further questions about the study, you can contact us by email at support@aury.co.

8. About AI
How should I think about Aury as an AI system?

Aury is a digital companion without feelings of its own. The prevention course "Digital Stress Management with Aury" can offer you structure, knowledge and orientation.

Real closeness, however, happens between humans. If you need connection, belonging or comfort, please reach out to a trusted person or to professional help.

Can the system make mistakes?

You stay in control: you decide what you share with Aury and which suggestions you use. You can decline recommendations or ask for an explanation. Aury works with scientifically grounded methods and adapts to your inputs — but the system can still make mistakes. If that happens, please write to support@aury.co.

When you chat with Aury, you are interacting with an AI-powered system, not a human. AI responses can be inaccurate, incomplete or biased. Do not use them as the sole basis for important decisions, especially in the area of health.

9. Crisis & emergency contacts
I am feeling really bad — what should I do?

Aury is not a medical product and replaces neither a crisis service nor psychotherapy. If you have or suspect a mental illness, please seek professional help. In an acute emergency, dial 112 (Germany).

In acute crises or thoughts of self-harm, Aury is not sufficient. Please confide in a trusted person. You can also find professional help points on our help page under "In a crisis? Get help immediately."

Note: the emergency numbers listed below are for Germany. If you are outside Germany, please use the equivalent local emergency and crisis services.

Do not stay alone. Take this step — for yourself and your well-being 💜
